Compound specific isotope analysis (CSIA) is an analytical method that measures the ratio of stable isotopes (¹³C/¹²C, ²H/¹H, or ³⁷Cl/³⁵Cl) of a contaminant. CSIA results can provide conclusive proof of contaminant degradation, insight into degradation mechanisms, rate estimations, and contaminant source distinction/delineation.
