Dr. Robert “Bob” Borden serves as Principal Engineer at EOS Remediation, LLC and Professor Emeritus at North Carolina State University. Bob has over thirty years’ experience in the development and implementation of technologies for in situ remediation of contaminated soil and groundwater.

Bob has developed technologies for in situ bioremediation of petroleum hydrocarbons, chlorinated solvents, explosives and propellants, and 1,4-dioxane. With his students, Bob developed the use of emulsified vegetable oil (EVO) as a slow-release, sustainable technology for in situ bioremediation.

Bob helps clients achieve remedial success with EOS Remediation products which have been used successfully at 1000s of contaminated sites globally to:

  • remediate chlorinated solvents, perchlorate, other explosives, heavy metals and nitrates;
  • bioaugment with cultures to degrade chlorinated solvents and 1,4 Dioxane;
  • adjust the aquifer pH to enhance bioremediation or precipitate metals; and
  • remediate petroleum hydrocarbons

Bob’s work has been documented in numerous journals articles, reports, design tools and protocols, and computer models. Bob worked with SERDP and ESTCP to develop the ENVIRO.wiki (www.enviro.wiki) as a reliable database of peer-reviewed, and science-based information for the environmental industry.
